Sorry to hear about the accident. I am glad to hear you are ok. A hit from an Escalade is no small thing. Do you happen to have pictures from the accident? I am always curious how these hold up in various collision scenarios.
Thanks for the well wishes.I have some slight neuro symptoms that I’m waiting to be seen for, but all things considered, I’m very thankful! What’s interesting is that I had considered trading my 200 in towards a Tesla mostly because I felt I was wasting money on fuel unnecessarily (I don’t really need what the 200 offers on a daily basis) but once I had the accident, I told myself no amount of cost savings is worth a compromise in safety. Needless to say, the 200 was a clear choice. I was surprised to see the Tundra & 4Runner get such poor crash ratings. I couldn’t find any stateside data for the 200, but I saw an Australian test and that was enough for me.
I should add the Escalade was traveling between 45-50MPH (speed limit 45) and I didn’t hear or see any skid marks leading up to him striking me on my side of the car. This doesn’t mean he didn’t slow down, but I’m just not sure. The impact spun me around and no airbags deployed. I’m not sure why. I’m thankful it didn’t hit my door. Those old Escalades are strong as an ox.
The impact was so strong the passenger door would get caught on the fender when opening as the entire front cradle had shifted. Again though, any other car and I’m not convinced it would have fared even near this well.
