Got a 2018 LX

Have been lurking the forum for a few months now. Excited to ask some dumb questions in here
Picked this 2018 LX 570 up in Dallas at Sewell with 115k miles on it.
last toyota was a 2006 IS 350, but I've owned some SUV's in the past. Previous owner dinged it up a bit, but it's in great shape. Hoping to get some direction on AHC maintenance advice in particular since the dealership said it's a closed system and they typically don't mess with it.

here it is all dolled up. To my surprise when I drove it home I found someone already put CarPlay on there, so that's nice.
My only gripe is the ride was a bit rough at highway speeds over any little bump. I'm probably going to have to make another thread to see if anyone has had any luck with AHC flush and changing accumulators for the ride quality on the '16-'21 LX series. Dealership tech said fluid change is not necessary until about 140k miles or so since it's a closed system. I know that's not the case with the previous generation for a fact.
Other than that, I love the truck. Can't wait to take the kids fly fishing in style.

The dealer is lying to you, AHC is not a closed system. The factory maintenance schedule requires a fluid flush every 60,000 miles. My Lexus dealer (Lexus of Serramonte) did mine at 60k just fine.

Dealer is full of crap, as many of them are when it comes to AHC. Good threads here on MUD for DIY fluid changes and other maintenance stuff if you search. The fluid change should help your ride quality a bit. If it's still stiff, then look into accumulator globe replacement. Of course, ditching the 21" wheels wouldn't hurt ride quality either.

Sent the dealership pictures of the manual showing it needs 60k fluid flush. at 115k miles it's missed it twice, just went through all maintenance records.
Let's see what they say! Hopefully my accumulator globes aren't totally shot. It's rougher than the Volvo xc90 with air suspension I was driving, which is to be expected, but at highway speeds it felt like I was riding a horse.

One quick test. Do you notice a difference from sport mode to comfort mode? My lx was ahc flushed at 60k. At about 120k struts started developing leak. I purchased mounts, struts, and globes (accumulators). I had them replaced. I am at 203k. Immediately after the work I can tell difference from comfort to sport.

Seems like that there is a great independent ship available in Dallas area.

Just tried it around the block on my way to lunch. noticed some difference but not dramatic.

That’s not a normal ride quality for highway speeds. I just drove mine across the country (2019, 60K miles, up to date with all factory service) and it’s extremely stable, smooth, and not at all bouncy on the highway.

Hopefully a fluid flush resolves that for you and you don’t need new accumulators, not a great way to start your ownership experience (if it makes you feel any better when you get the bill, I’ve spent $5,000 baselining mine right after purchase and some extra money on top of that for detailing/paint correction/ceramic coating ).

One thing i noticed about these LXs is that they don't necessarily drive like they float like clouds as some full IFS SUVs do... it drives like a truck but smoother, if you know what i mean. With that being said, even after changing my AHC fluid the LX still drives firm but smooth (19" with 97k, Spacer/Relocator lift, Sensor lift, 34.5 on 18s).

I would for sure do all the fluids to get a good baseline, especially coolant.

The dealer is lying to you

I had the dealer go through all of the maintenance records and they sent me a picture of maintenance done at 62k miles, said the fluid was replaced like clockwork.
The records they gave me originally showed nothing from 2022 like this screenshot. So I guess they DID change the fluid.
I'm only 4k miles away from its next change so maybe it will be better with new fluid? Glad to see some proof it was changed though.

Mine said the dealer changed my diff fluid at 90k but i ended up changing it myself at 97k because i wanted the good stuff in there. Also it gives me peace of mind knowing I did it myself instead of hoping they actually performed the service. Case in point is they SHOULD be greasing the drive shafts during oil changes but most techs are lazy and they skip it because its not a fun or time efficient job haha.

spoke with service manager, said on his end he sees part 08886-01805 was changed, that's the fluid. Just not sure why I can't see when parts have actually been replaced on my end on the My Lexus website...
Also nothing on my end about spark plugs being replaced ever

Yea, I stand by my suggestion above. Replace all fluid regardless as a step 1 baseline. Spark, pcv, belt, thermostat, tensioner. Etc. Especially at this age and mileage. Its just best to do it for peace of mind until the next 100k lol.

Going to do all of this at 120k miles when I send it in for service
