Looking good man, plus your Cruiser :steer: is just the right color!

73fj - thanks!

the 60 is not OEM red but rustoleum regal red:p pretty close match though.

NICE!!! Keep up the good work.

Alright I am thinking about building a swing out tire carrier for the back of the trailer. I really don't have any other "good" places to put it. tried underneath but hangs down too far. I could put it up in front of the trailer with the water and fuel cans but I am a little worried about getting the tongue too heavy. Also it would be nice to hang the tire off the back to offset some the weight the water and fuel will add up front.

Any thoughts? I don't think I have seen anyone do this before.

Of course most trailer don't have a bumper on the back like mine either:)

Take a look at Outlander Trailers." They are one of the only trailer manufacturers that I can think of that I have seen put a spare tire on the back of the trailer.

Spindle is on oerder for the swing out:)

picked up the steel today.

hope to get it cut and welded up tomorrow.

new camera should be here soon as well so pictures will be coming;)

Alright here are some pics of the swing out mock up.

I think I will ad another piece of tube from the spindle over to the tire support. to give it a little more support.

Did you box in the back of your bumper? You might need to for the tire swing out. It is amazing how much flex a tire can produce when it is swung open.

Drew - I didn't box it in.

I will be welding in a sleeve for the spindle. It will go completely through the bumper. I hope this will give it the rigidity it needs. If not I guess I will box in the bumper but that will make it a real pain to get the light housing in and out:frown:

how has your trip?

Yeah, I would brace it up as much as possible, I was blown away at how much leverage is created when you swing a full size tire out on a swing arm. I bet the sleeving would help a lot. Maybe you could add a few gussets to the sleeve even. Just think beefy. If it flexes a lot it won't open and close smoothly, and it will bounce all over on rough terrain. Looks like a great addition to an already sweet trailer bud.

Moab was Moab, which is AMAZING! :bounce: ;)

got the swing out about 90% fabbed up now.

I am waiting on the latch. :frown: and I need to make a stop to keep the swing out from swinging to far around and hitting the side of the trailer. Then I will throw some paint on it and the bumper, plus touch up some the trailer box and call it good;) for now!

I put the extra support bar from the spindle over to the tire mount and it made a huge difference.:) before I did this I was getting about .25" maybe a little more of flex in the swing out at the very end. Now zero:clap:

here is a pic of the work so far.

Looks great man! :bounce:

Can I suggest that you consider getting an old bike tube and slip it over your chains out back, any vinyl tube would work as well, this will keep them from messing up all your nice paint and will keep the clanging down a bit.

Looks awesome bud.

Drew- thanks for the suggestion! I was trying to decide what I was going to do about the chains. I like the bike tire tube idea:idea:
In my short search for chain covers I have not been able to find anything in black. blue, green and even yellow but no black.

A little soap and water and they will slide right on. Might poke a few tiny holes to let water drain out near the bottom of the chains. Again, looks great man!
