Your bag should be green, or tan.

I know, I keep waiting on that old thing to wear out. What a miserable failure that it doesn’t match my uniforms. 😎😎

Staying in Kansas tonight, with gas at less than $2 a gallon the interstates are packed. 🤮 We took rt 50 outta KC and will find a dispersed campsite ( accessible only to high clearance 4wd vehicles) at the Sand Dunes NP in Colorado Monday. Tomorrow we’re gonna stop in and visit Matt, Doc, Chester & Miss Kitty. It’s good to get off the interstates.

Every time I head out on 95 on a Saturday at blows. Weekdays are so much better.

Don be sure to have everything ready when your guest gets to Utah in a week or a little more...............

We’re gonna bury him and steal that truck !! 😎😎 Hey, it’ll be interesting for sure. Virginia and I are curious to see how the lack of creature comforts go over. BTW, we were deeply disappointed with Dodge City.. it seems that they all died just about the time my grandpa was born.

Camped at Medano pass at a primitive site in an Aspen grove. 9,000 ft is the highest we’ve ever camped at. Actually did nothing for two days! Spectacular!!

We spent three nights at the north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. Fortunately there are only 13 sights and we were lucky enough to get # 13. This is an amazing place with our camp nestled in the oldest Juniper Grove in the world, with trees all around us 800 plus years old.. Did I mention the Canyon? Whoa!! Unfortunately, these are all images taken with my lowly iPhone . I wish I could dump images from my big camera onto this format

Oh, nestled in those old trees makes for a very deep sleep. Tomorrow we will be headed to Moab via the newly opened Rim Rocker Trail network..

Don thanks for the pictures. Did you know the D&RGW narrow gauge ran through the bottom of that canyon!!!!! And your visitor is on his way I'm guessing right about now he's getting into Iowa.

John’s meeting us at Moab Valley Inn tonight.. 👍🏼 We are excited to see his reaction to self sustained wilderness camping and wheelin to get there..

Ok guys, I’ve learned yet another lesson. Saturday morning I got up with the birds as usual. Got water boiling for tea and coffee, filled up the press, poured hot water into the tea mug. Went for a very short walk to the edge of camp to squirt the dirt. And as I have a big blank spot for about 45 minutes discovered I had fallen and pulled a muscle in my lower back.. I just got out of the ER and I’m OK as a stroke was ruled out, I just have a very touchy muscle.. the doc has seen this before with retired folk.. when camping at high altitude, drink water and eat something as soon as you awaken, which I did not do. Walking back to camp I was white as a sheet, however I was functional for that 45 minutes, but remember nothing of it. We even took a walk to an overlook for Virginia to show me where I was. I came back to reality sitting in a camp chair drinking my coffee.. the doc figured the pain of the pulled muscle put me in a state of shock, I fell down because of lack of h20 and nutrition.. scary stuff as I’ve never experienced anything quite like this.. Then, to top it all off, we slept on the ground last night along the RR trail, which exacerbated the pain levels.. so, keep hydrated, eat when you should, and don’t sleep on the ground while a pulled muscle is trying to heal.. lessons learned.

Medano Pass to the Dunes is a great ride.

A few shots from RR and campsite at Buckeye Lake.. we had to cut the run short and just did the middle section. I’m planning on running the entire length on the way back east.
