some are okay, some are not so good..

All of them beat the hell out of the Koren War surplus C rations we ate when I worked fires.

IMHO the MRE's are on par with Dinty Moore stew and canned chili. Okay if your not making them a staple. As with most things they taste better the hungrier you are.
 
back in the mid 90's, we had a 2000w pure sine invertor, and 5 batteries in my 80 series, and a 4.5 kva gen set, and a microwave.

This set up was used to run my wifes dialysis machine overnight for 10 hrs every night when we were camping before her kidney trasnsplant.

The gennie would put charge into the batteries in the morning before driving the car.

The microwave would heat her peratineal dyalysis bag during the day, and her wheat bag at nght, as well as boil the water for her cup of tea.

Sure beat being tied to the machine at home, and she was the only dyalysis patient from the hospital who getting out and about.

These days our cooking methods are simple, and cryo vac machine can make weekends just a reheat.
