on the road again....
Dealers in Houston say they are back ordered and no ETA available. Decided Monday I'll just call all over the US to major cities and have a dealer check the area for any available. Do any vendors here ave a source for a window? Starting to look like it may take a couple of months if not more.
Any advice appreciated,
Jim

Salvage Yard at this point...

yep....maybe so. 1500-3000 brought in to the US most years.. Since 2008 that's around 36,000. Worth a shot anyway.......

Did you try Safelite or a mom&pop glass shop close to your family?

I only ask because I always use a shop my neighbor owns. They’ll do some residential but his bread and butter is windshields and side windows from break-ins. I think the supply chain is such that they’d go directly to the glass manufacturer and bypass Toyota. It’d be worth a try and there’s nothing magic or complicated about door disassembly.

No I haven't. Glad you mentioned that, I had been thinking about that route also.

Be careful sourcing glass from other years.. at some point tinted glass became standard but the early 200s didn’t have it. Also Lexus could be a different color of tint.

I’m out toward Sugar Land. About two months ago I had the passenger side second row window replaced due to a rock strike. I called advantage auto glass at 713-862-7600 and Tom bent over backward to get me that piece of glass for my 13 LX. They also replaced the windshield on my 13 LX about a year ago. Great company and great people, give him a call. They are based in bellaire or west university or something like that if I remember correctly. He had the glass overnighted from a supplier in Dallas and the installer did the job in my driveway. He took his time and did it right, made sure to get any loose glass out of the door with a vacuum when a lot of installers skip that step and cleaned everything up before he left.

I forgot to mention, I think I called Westside lexus and although they did have the window in stock, they wanted over $800 for it. I don’t know how desperate you are, I wasn’t even going to entertain the idea of paying that much for a window, but at least they did have it in stock. I believe it cost me just slightly north of $300 through Advantage.
