Spring time in the garage! Still chipping away at the shroud today.

Frame cut out and making use of the radiator box

I really don't like making fan shrouds

Replacing cardboard with steel one piece at a time.

More incremental progress. From cardboard to reality, everything cut and tacked, let the welding begin!

Putting the effort in the small details always pays off in the end looking good

Thanks for checking in. Wish I could dedicate some more undivided attention to it.

As they say the elephant is eaten one bite at a time.......

Universal stainless radiator hose?

Anyone have experience with the long term usefulness of these gizmos? Seems like my only solution for a lower hose at this point.

Not a big fan of "universal" stuff

Top and bottom halves of shroud connection worked out.

And as for the universal hose? It's going back. The rubber connectors do not fit 1-3/4 no way, no how. My online review is not to by Jegs brand of this part. I'll be trying something other than the house brand next. Too bad it's going to cost me $20 in shipping just for the pleasure of finding out their part doesn't fit.

Finally got a little more garage time this week. Good times making some progress and listening to the hockey team keep the playoff run alive :)

Shroud finish welded and complete except for mounting holes. Waiting on a custom radiator from Howe now. The stock "race style" angled lower connection was just too much trouble. A straight lower connection will simplify the hose and not need a notch in the shroud.

Stock Howe 342B alum radiator now for sale ;)

Extra day off to start a long weekend and I'm spending valuable garage time looking for lost parts!!!!

:bang::bang::bang::mad::mad::mad: I hate that!

Just spent the last hour or so reading about your build. Very good and great progression of photos.

Wow! You've some real forum stamina. Thanks for taking the time. :cheers:I'm trying to add as many pics as I can because I really appreciate the ones I find here when I'm searching.

So here's another. Shroud and radiator reinstalled, done except for some trims, tweaks and final welding.

Next it's back to the front diff.......

Another chip at the wall. Fresh new pinion flange and seal on the front diff. Old flange had a speedi sleeve and some good rock rash so I picked a new one from Cruiser Outfitters. Glad I ordered 2 seals just in case, because I sure enough had to trash one after realizing I forgot the oil slinger inside.

Cleaned and deburred the mounting surface too. Ready for install.

1st of all, on this day, I wish to thank all that put their life on the line for their belief in a country that allows me this opportunity to be doing as I choose in my garage. To those that gave all and those that are currently giving, SALUTE!

Progress: Got the studs and mounting flange on the housing nice and clean, knuckles ready for new bearings & seals and finish welding on the shock mounts.

Waiting on a knuckle alignment tool to show up and get going on the fun.

A reminder why I don't order from SOR unless I have to.

$hipping!

3 items that could have easily arrived in a bubble envelope, swimming in a sea of shredded paper and too much box. Could have sent this stuff 3 times for the cost of this box that weighs more that the actual parts

Well at least Marlin has the shipping science right

The irony of my SOR purchase is that I discovered today that I already had the stuff I thought I was pressed to get.

Step 1 of axle reassembly. Got the official SST in place to begin knuckle pre load and centering.

Pure poetry in steel. Large pattern knuckle, ARP studs, new hardware, 4x4 labs steering arm and a Marlin HD axle seal. Waiting for a friendly Longfield to come inside. :bounce:

I even got the preload right 1st time and barely remembered the axle seals before I put the knuckle on. :D
