Late to the party, but I thought I would add a couple of comments about the Metaltech sliders.
The good: great place to deal with, easy install (installed them in the rain, in the driveway, by myself, in about an hour - the night before a weekend of wheeling), bulletproof (saved my rear doors and fender flares from a couple of significant hits with nary scratch).
The bad: it's a lot tougher getting to the cats now, for some reason...
The surprising: I live in the northeast and discovered that the sliders accumulate huge stalagmites of salty frozen slush. Other than the obvious problem of making the sliders slippery as hell, this makes it impossible to open the rear doors (the salty boogers rise above the bottom of the doors) and difficult to keep your pant legs clean (while stepping down from the front seats). The amount of salty sand they trap (inside the slider, as well as on top of the flat part) is quite astounding as well. None of this is a complaint, as I cannot imagine trading the utility for the convenience, but merely a heads up for someone considering sliders in general and the MTs in particular.
Great product at an acceptable price!
