My dad is going to help me out in a pinch and help me get the truck fixed by my local reputable shop instead of paying $500-600 for a midsize SUV rental and then still having to fix the truck when I get back anyways.

If you have had you HG fixed by a good shop or by a friend and yourself is there still the basic "break in" period of driving after a job like that I assume?

I remember on my Camry its like 1000 miles of no more than 3k rpm etc to make sure you don't blow anything out I guess.

I am just hesitant about driving it right after a big job like that and screwing it up if I have to rev too high or whatever.

Anyone give any advice on this?

I obviously would try to drive as normal as I can but sometimes you just have to get around someone that is not going fast enough. :)

Im not aware of a break in period for a HG. Usually a break in period is to seat the rings. You will want to take a couple of test drives to make sure you don't have any leaks etc., but other wise you should be fine.

No breakin required unless you are going to be installing new cams while everything is apart. I would suggest using Toyota parts though, order them from CDan or Onur to ensure you have everything needed.

ok thanks all 10-4

Remember, your computer may have adjusted to the failing HG. It may not run right for the first 2-3 run cycles. Otherwise, you should be golden.
