I checked my Birfields today, and found them full of General Purpose Red grease.

How bad is it to run them as is, versus cleaning out the red to replace it with proper Moly grease?

Right now I'm just using it to run around town and a road trip later this week of approximately 600 miles.

Thoughts?

My opinion... which is just my opinion, you'll be fine.

It's a fortuitous happenstance, but this has forced me to look more closely into the hows and whys of GP versus Moly.

According to my research, the moly grease appears to be necessary at low speeds and high pressure, and comes especially into play with large tires and off road. I do have 35s, but my off road plans are really not very extensive for the immediate future.

So I'll probably just keep an eye on it for the time being and clean out the GP and put in the moly when time allows this winter.
