G'day all I have a FJ73 petrol landcruiser ( V8 converted:D )

It has a 5 speed box and the transfer has lever to engage from 2x4 to 4x4, it is the model with the electroic dash 4x4 button.

Anyhow want to start looking for a gearbox/transfer to replace the one I have as they have major leaking issues and box synchrows not the best.
At present cant afford rebuilds so was going to keep a eye out for reasonable good second hand stuff.

My Q is what model # transfer case and gear box would I have?

Cheers
James

Hi James ,you have a 10 spline H55f gearbox and split case t/case with a vaccum shifter.
Any 60 series or 70 series of the same years will do that has a 3F or 2H Diesel.
If you use the diesel gearbox you will need your bell housing.
Its always risky buying used gearboxes unless you know the person or can test drive it.

I thought the HF1A, HF2A and the HF2AV have the same front drive shaft engagement method ..

Electric motor.

The models from this year (FJ7*/6*have an all vaccum system from the manifold vaccum.
I cant remember which t/case it is.
I think the 80 series and hilux had the electric motor 1st

Interesting to see if the new models have the same reduction ( 2.48 ) and the same internal structure as you found the HF2V sold in US ..

BTT:

I am possibly looking into going to Australia to bring back an HF1A. :)

My main questions are these:

1. Was the HF1A ever mated to a A343F auto box?

2. If it was, my assumption is that the mating bolt pattern would be the same as the 80 series A343F we got in the US?

3. Are these units reasonably easy to find in Australia? Or Japan for that matter?

4. What would be a reasonable price for a used xfer case in Australia?

5. I assume the driveshafts bolt up exactly the same as say the HF2A/V?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure but let's analize it a minute ..

1. 105 series ( all that I know are manual R151 or H151 ) and came full time HF2A /V

2. H151 it's the same manual that came in the manual 80 series that use HF1A / HF2A / V

With both facts I asume that all HF*A* share the same tranny bolt pathern .. if the 100 series ever come with the HF2AV and A343 tranny .. believe share the same bolt pathern that HF1A t-case ..

Aus land got the 105 series 1hz with r151 and not full time 4x4 aswell

Panama got turbo dieselS in their 105s:mad:. Imagine how they would have sold here?
Toyota must have purposely kept them out of the country so they could sell the 100 series without embaressing the owners with standard models that were just as powerful.
Every motoring journo who has road tested the 105 lamented the lack of a turbo diesel option and the fact a turbo diesel was $7000 more than a 1HZ

actually no .. which it's a totally shame .. that's why I will never move in to 105 series ..

Wasnt it you who showed a pic of the 105 series plate with a 1HD FTE or similar stamped on it?
