hi all, let me just start by saying im a novice! I read a lot, but theres a lot to learn.
I'm looking at gearbox options for the 1pz engine. Its an R151F, and it wont change down from 3rd to 2nd. also it may, or may not, go into first. All of these are while on the move, its fine when stationary.
I was talking to a guy who owned it, a mechanic, today. he said he got round it by double clutching it. I've never tried it, but ill give it a go.
also, he reckoned that a 3 liter landcruiser Prado gearbox would sit behind it.
I think he said I'd need the bellhousing from the current gearbox. I've never removed a gearbox, are bellhousings interchangable?
theres a world (i mean millions) of KZJ90 and KZJ95 3 litre prados in Ireland, and a smaller number of 80 series Amazon's.
I could pick up a Prado gearbox for very small money, in fact the guy knows where there is one and he reckons it's "a right good one" lol. Its prettymuch new. I'd really like, if it were possible, to put a six speed prado gearbox on there.
An Amazon box would cost me a bit more.
can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
