I have a quick question so that I can just double-check my understanding.

Can I simply upgrade my '73 40 starter to a Gear Reduction starter (28100-60070-84)? Plug and play?

Thanks,
Jerry

It was an easy swap on our 1970. An added bonus is that the GR starter is smaller and lighter. I think that you will like it.

Do you have a functioning resistor bypass setup on your distributor? If so, there are considerations.
