Hello 200 owners. My previous experience is with the 100 series platform. I recently picked up a 2009 LC after searching for a good condition early series model.

After my first week of driving, it is coming to my attention that the booster appears to cycle on and off more frequently than on the 100, which is reputed for booster motor failures.

1. How frequently does your pump cycle during city driving? Mine briefly engages about every minute or so in traffic, far less on the freeway.

2. Searching does not yield much for booster failure. Does anyone on the board have experience with their breaks going out?

My brakes are fine, but I'm trying to establish some baseline data.

The short answer is no worries with the 200s. I too came from a 100 and had much angst about the brake booster motor failure. The 200s seemed to have solved that and even 10 year olds like yours are ok on that. Just do the usual due diligence with pads and rotors and flushing and your brakes will work for a long time. Others can chime in here on your pump operation frequency question, but you may just be hyper-sensitive, coming from a 100.

I notice it about every minute or so when I get on the brakes. I'm not worried about it, if anything breaks I expect it will be very expensive. This is basically the Supra of trucks.

So far the AHC in LX570 is proving far more reliable than the AHC in the 100 platform. I’m hoping the brake booster is a similar story.

The brake booster on my ‘03 4Runner cycled more frequently than on my ‘13 LC. The brake booster on my 4Runner was still working fine when I sold it with around 140k miles.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve read about some trouble spots on 200s - radiator, rusting KDSS, etc. But I haven’t read reports of brake booster failures.
