Hello,

I pulled back the sunroof today and this gasket was hanging out. I've looked at some schematics for the roof but can't figure out where this is supposed to go. Any assistance or walkthrough video someone may know would help a bunch. Is this doable on my own or do I need to bring it in to my mechanic?

I just resealed my moonroof last month, I don't even see how this is possible. I fully had to use a heat gun, razor blade, and most of my strength to pull it off. It's also supposed to be a shaped gasket, that doesn't look like mine. What year is this? Can you take a picture of the roof like halfway open?

Edit:
When I wrote this, only gasket that I remember being up there is the one that circles the glass. Thinking back though there may have been one that snaps into the inside metal at the front end of the roof. Will look at mine when I get home

Yeah it must be this one

You just press it onto the channel. There's one on the front and back I think, see which is missing

Well, there's one on the front, so probably it's the back one. I've got a 2002.

gotcha, in that case it does just press on. The picture I posted is of the rear one so you can see how it's orientated.

If you want to feel more confident about it staying, clean the channel real well, and clean where it connects well. Put a few dabs of glue down in the channel, then press it on. It won't go anywhere after drying.

Just to clarify, I won't need to disassemble anything to get to this? I'm assuming I can just put this on from inside? Thanks for the pic and help, BTW, I appreciate it.

It would be a lot easier if you did some disassembly.

There's four plastic trim pieces on the moonroof itself. They just pull off by hand then snap back into place. I don't have a pic of the plastic but here's what it looks like removed

You remove the right side and left side with your moonroof fully closed. Then take four bolts off (two on each side), and the roof lifts right out. You'll have full access to the back rail from there and be able to slip your gasket back into place

Itll be a good time to clean your moonroof track and drain channels while you're up there. In total with cleaning this should take ~15m

Edit: make sure you don't over torque the nuts when you reattach the moonroof. They just need to be hand tightened and maybe two full turns after that
