Great day out for Garys Fall Run. Weather held out so lunch was mostly rain free and there was still that awesome view of the valley. Didn't really start coming down till well into the return loop. I didn't take much for pictures, but I'm sure as the days go on some will be posted.

Great fun, great turn out, pics to follow. I think we did Gary proud.
Looked at my old pictures tonight and determined this was the 18th annual Gary's Fall Run. Time flies.
Thanks to Daryl for leading, Greg and Franz for cooking, Greg for grub shopping, and the club for footing the bill. Good fun day.

Had so much fun yesterday! Thank you all for being such a welcoming and supportive group! That was my first time up to vedder mt and also first time back on dirt I a very long time. My Tacoma did pretty alright!

That dent was not there on the last technical climb, weird. We got lucky with the weather compared to the first run!Here's the only pic I took yesterday - no idea where this happened, didn't notice til air up

The weather report called for heavy monsoon rains and winds but our intrepid crew
was surprised by the mild temperatures and no rain until about 1:00 and by that time the 3 canopies were up and the bonfire burning.

I want to share my sincere appreciation for everyone in the club. Primarily to those who organized and put in so much work before and during the event. You are absolutely amazing! Also appreciation for other attendees who braved the weather forecast and even a trip across the border. I’m far too new to have met Gary but it’s clear that he was a truly stellar person since the run continues to honor him the way it does. I can’t thank him myself but I would if I could.
Whoever and wherever Gary is, I’m sure he’d be happy with the legacy he’d left behind. Even for people like myself. The run gave me a chance to experience a number of firsts and they’ve accelerating my learning curve faster than the internet research and the brain picking I trouble people with at 4WD gatherings. I can actually say this about both of the Coastal Cruiser drives I’ve had the privilege of attending. Gary’s Run even led me to a very humbling realization. Since my first drive in the LX470, it’s proven itself to be a point and shoot tool. I haven’t really needed to know how to drive since it just goes where ever I point and throttle. All until this past Saturday that is. I saw others tackling obstacles with relative ease or without lockers where I had struggled. Saturday was actually my first time driving anything remotely challenging outside of dry summer conditions. Other than a Hale Creek Easy Way last November, it was actually only my 2nd time taking the LX onto dirt with rain. Frankly, I wouldn't have tried Saturday’s terrain without the reassurance of the experienced drivers being there.
Next year I’m bringing better game. The 4WD Association’s Wheeling Wisely intro course was always sold out but I won’t let that happen again in 2026. It probably couldn’t hurt to jump ahead? I just booked the only course left this year (a recovery course) and I’ll have to be vigilant and book the intro as soon as the schedule is released.

Oh and about those deep and muddy puddles that were several lengths of a truck..I’ve been waiting all my life for puddles like those! If I wasn’t with the group I probably would’ve spent quite a bit of time there.

Great to hear, Dennis! An offroad driving course is a good idea if you have expensive body panels, mirrors, etc! Hope to wheel with you soon! 
Many thanks to the club fund for buying the smokies, buns, condiments, and water, etc. Thanks to
Greg and Franz for food shopping and cooking the dogs. And to those who brought nanaimo bars, cookies, and pastry. These
treats where the icing on the cake for a good day of wheeling.
