I had enough room in my garage to be able to get my corvette off the lift and use the lift again (the vettes got more air time then most pilots :whoops: )
There was stuff under it from the trailer project which was in the way .
Enough of that , now on to the question.
Where the lift is the door is 10 feet and the lift is 13 . when I open the door with small stuff on it (beetle , vette, Scion etc ) theres no problem but when I have my 70 , 80 , van etc I have to close the door or I'll hit it with the car on the lift when raising it or hit the car if I try to open the door too much .
I was looking at the track and it could be moved up a couple of feet higher toward the roof .Looking online there saying you got to change a bunch of stuff (heaver springs and all kinds of other stuff) ,not just move the horizontal up and add 2 feet for the vertical, replace the cables with longer ones and change the top roller to a matching unit like the lower as it wont be on the 90 deg .
Anyone ever do this , and if so was it as I think or is it more involved ?
Thanks and

The door spring here is located on the header of the door. No need to do anything other than add the door track. If your springs run along the door track parallel to the ceiling then maybe remount them so the cable still holds the door above the header or move the cable up a panel or two. For some other spring configuration well yer a smart feller with a welder; I'm sure you can figure something out.
