I thought I would share my behind the bumper winch install video for anyone wanting to retain their OEM Stock bumper. After quite a bit of research, the best option for me was the Badland 12,000 lb winch with synthetic rope and a hidden winch mount from Trail Tailor. I chose the Trail Tailor winch mount because I wanted a mount that was supported by the vehicle frame as opposed to being held up by bolts only. The attached video is the process followed for ensuring the mount fit flush against the frame rails, as well as how we selected the exact location for the fairlead cutout. Finally, the winch clutch handle is located under the bumper so extension handles were created so the clutch handle could be operated. The winch was matched with a Warn electronic disconnect switch (solenoid) with an in-dash toggle for supplying power to the winch. Has anyone else gone this route for installing a behind the bumper winch mount? Since there are lots of trail enthusiasts who have quite a bit of trail experience, is there a lot of flex and movement in winches once they are in use. I am curious about the tolerances since the winch is a perfect fit. Consider a re-evaluation of the size of winch installed. Would love your thoughts. My install video follows:
