As titled, I’m trying to replace the fuse panel on my 1982 FJ43 with something close to stock. I’ve done a bit of searching and reading, and seen most of the threads that discuss this. 79+ had a different circuit layout from earlier years and came with a pre-terminated harness. The common solution seems to be using the City Racer 78 panel, and modifying the harness and moving the clips to match the alternate layout. That’s all well and good, but from what I can most of the circuit names on the 78 fuse panel cover would no longer match, and or the constant hot, switched-accessory and switched-run layout would be sacrificed.
What are late model people really doing to replace their fuse panel?
Here’s a quick mock up I made to explain my concern.
From the few factory wiring diagrams I’ve reviewed, it looks like US and non-US 79+ 40 series rigs had the same fuse panel layout and switching scheme.
