Hey Everyone,
I hunted through the clunk thread and a few others but couldn't find anything that fit so I tried to grab a sample. I'm only shooting stills these days so I sold my audio gear, used an iPhone 6 for this. There's wind noise but you'll first hear it about 6 seconds in and then it gets a little louder until 10 seconds or so, if you can bear the wind and listen through it it's audible.

It levels out and goes away when I'm up to speed, in this case just 30-35mph on my local road. Secondly, after I've driven it a bit, stop to go into a store etc. and return, it doesn't always sound off again; doesn't do it after a stoplight either. Funny thing is I went yesterday to go try it after a storm on soaked roads and it didn't make the sound, but back again today. Anyone ever hear anything similar?

My u-joints are probably originals but it sounds high pitched for it to be that, though I've never had u-joint issues so maybe it is. Or T-case? A bit lost on this one. (I had bearings repacked already, new brakes, belts, all fluids etc. when I baselined it.)
Let me know if the file doesn't work, hosting it on my Dropbox at the moment.
Thanks!
Bryan

Where is the sound coming from? Under the truck, engine bay, wheel area, front or back, is it only when moving or also when stationary.
It's coming from underneath, I can't pinpoint if it's rear/center but doesn't seem like it's up front and not wheel related. Not happening when stationary either.

I can't tell what to listen for in the audio. The wind overpowers the sounds. Describe what it sounds like?

If I'm hearing what I think I'm hearing, it sounds like the heat shields rattling around.
Ah I didn't even think of that! Thanks. I'll check it out, would prefer a hose clamp priced solution at the moment haha.

I know it's tough, it's a buzzing from 6-10 second mark, sounds like metal almost vibrating really fast/loudly. Cat shields/heat shields makes sense. I'll give that a try and see if it doesn't fix it. Maybe time time to just do the exhaust. Hope not.

I second heat shields on exhaust. Mine does it when my wife leaves the driveway every morning, goes away by the time she makes it around the block and everything's heated up.

Sounds about the same, takes a block of me annoying the neighbors and it's smooths out. Maybe the day everything was soaking wet it had dampened it just enough to not be audible. Well I guess I need to shop for some clamps tomorrow.

Good luck. I tried getting under there and shaking things by hand to replicate the sounds so I could put a hose clamp on there and quiet it down, but I think it's one of those "vibration" type deals and I couldn't figure out exactly where it was coming from. I didn't really try all that hard since it only happens when it's cold or if idling at a stoplight for a long time, goes away as soon as you give it gas. You might even be able to just go under there with a screwdriver/pry bar and slightly bend the heat shield.

Thanks. I'll crawl under and tap some, even just knowing what the likely culprit is I feel a little better, but would really like to get it handled. Looks like there are a few threads on here I can dig through and see if I can't work it out.

Mine rattled off and on to start, but eventually rattled all the time. I opted for hose clamps instead of replacing them and they've been quiet for 2 years now.

Good to hear it worked out. If it's not raining I'll give it a go tomorrow. Thanks again.
