Vehicle History/Condition: I purchased the Cruiser from fellow Cottonlander Ben Montgomery in April. It was bone stock. Ben purchased it from Ken Swierenga of Parker Colorado in November of 2005. Ken purchased the vehicle new in Colorado in 1984. Ken lived in Colorado so there is salt on the roads so the rear portion of the frame is rusty. Not to the point to where there is rot, just heavy surface rust. I think it would live like it is in a non-rust environment for another 25 years.
Body: The truck is a 25' truck. It looks awesome from 25 feet, but as you get closer you can see it has plenty of dents and dings. Nothing a good road warrior or trail truck should not have, but if you are looking for a rust free/dent free Cruiser, this is not the one. There is some cancer low on the tailgate and in both rear fenders where the old mudflaps were. I put a dent in the driver's door when I took it on the trail to Hot Springs, does not effect the function of the door. Roof, hood and the other doors are good, no rust. Windshield has a crack on passenger side that passed MS inspection. All 6 stock wheels have some surface rust on them, but look OK.
Engine: 225,000 mile motor. Still purrs like a kitten and fired right up this am at 26*. Gets about 14 mpg on average. It burns a 1/2 quart of oil every 200 miles. It will smoke if you compression brake the motor and sometimes a puff at startup, but none when driving. Head Gasket was done by Montgomery at 215,000 miles. I have a full record of every maintenance items done on it since it was purchased. Brakes are fresh, clutch was put in 35,000 miles ago, axle and brakes were rebuilt at 200,000. The engine has no oil leaks. Desmogged with header and recurved Dizzy. Runs strong.
Tranny/Transfer: Stock, new fluids when I purchased the truck in the tranny/transfer and both diffs. Tranny has a small drip, but very little leaking in the drivetrain. Transmission has a small grind going into 2nd when it is cold. Goes away when the fluid warms up. Transfer and diffs make no noise and there was no metal in the oil when I drained them. Stock 3.70 gears. Drives down the hwy at 2500 rpm and 65 mph nicely. Brakes are in good shape all around. Stops straight without any warpage. Parking break will hold good on a grade.
ROOF RACK IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE BUT WILL SELL FOR $1200 over asking price.
Who wants it?
