Anyone know what the ohm readings are for a 1971 'yota fuel sender? Wanting to get an aftermarket fuel gauge. Also anyone have a pic of a properly hooked up tank with part labeling? PO left mine pretty jacked up, have no clue if I am missing some hookups or if I have too many. Need to know how to hook this puppy back up. I am assume that I the filler and vent lines are correct. After that I am pretty much SOL.

Wow I have an early 71, Fed spec. It only has the one line out to fuel pump, filler and overflow for filler, and sender wire and sender ground . Were do you look for an aftermarket sender? Do you need full and empty resistance readings?

Yes, please give me a full and empty ohm reading please!!!! I have a bunch o' inlet/outlet nipples and bungs. Really just thinking of getting a factory one from Spectre or somthing, running out of time though. I can get any style sending unit then TIG it to the OEM cap. Just trying to make life easy. BTW if you ever have to rewire your projects. Hit EZwire 21 or go to a boat shop and get two of the powered 10 fuse gang blocks. Very easy to hookup stuff.
I have never found an aftermarket sender to match the factory gauge. When my tank rusted out, I had to buy a newer model one (Dealer). Does yours have the expansion tank in the seat back (3 part seat back)?
The replacement tank did not have the correct fittings, so I had to make it work. Added 1 line for fuel return, but I am EFI so it was not all needed.

I used a VW bug sender and elongated the hole a little to fit the tank flange and then bought an after market VDO gauge for the same VW.
I installed all AutoMeter gauages in my '70 FJ40 last year, and discovered that not only is the impedance range different that OEM, but it is also reversed (dare I suggest that Toyota is the one that's backwards?). Bought an AutoMeter sender, and had to enlarge the mounting plate holes until it fit the tank. All is well now.
I just picked up a sender and gauge from jcwhiteny for $22. You have to drill out the holes on the tank, not too bad if you have argon to shoot into it. Make sure you seal it well.

Your best bet is to replace guage and sender. I don't know the Ohms off the top of my head but you can't find one to maych the OEM. You will have to do some mod's to make it work. Do a search on here. Someone just did the same thing a short time ago.
