I'm going out to the garage to install the fuel pump onto my '75 2F and I'm wondering if I should use any sealer on the gasket? I found that the torque on the bolts to the block should be 13 ft lbs. Thanks.

I wouldn't use any adhesives. Just make sure both the pump and block surfaces are spot clean. Rub some regular motor oil on the gasket. Bolt it on.
The oil in the gasket will cause the gasket to swell. Any kind of glue just makes it rough on the next change-out.
No need to gorilla tighten the bolts. Just work them back and forth until you get them appropriately mounted enough to not leak.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I went back and searched again using "fuel pump gasket" as the search term and found a couple threads on the subject. Both threads provided different advice -- one said use a little sealer the other said dry. I'm using a new Toyota gasket and bolts. Everything is clean so, I think I'll go dry this time around and see what happens. Thanks again for the real-time advice.

Make sure you get the right fuel pump also. Some are built a little different and can damage the motor. I forget what the issue is, either the pump arm is too long or something similar. Do a search on this site and I''m sure it will turn up something...

I'm using the fuel pump from the old '72 F motor on my rebuilt '75 2F. I did have to put a 90* elbow on the fuel inlet side of the pump due to interference with the oil filter bracket on the 2F. The older style pump has the fuel inlet parallel with the block since the F motors had the remote oil filter mounted off of the manifolds. Hopefully all is good.
