Does anyone know for certain where the pickup might be located in the old '55 long range tank? I have a hole in mine that will get fixed tomorrow but when I was driving today with 5 gallons left I could notice that the truck was sucking air a few times, especially after corners or hills. When I let the truck coast then applied power the diesel had settled down enough that I could continue. If I knew where the fuel pickup was located I might have the guy create a bowl or depression, lower than the remainder of the tank. where the fuel pickup could go to ensure that I don't have a time when I'm sucking air with 5 gallons left. Ideas, thoughts??
I already need the guy to weld on a bung as I had to drill a hole to drain the tank so another bit of welding/brazing is not the end of the world.
These are the best photos I have from my long range tank. Unfortunately there is no makers name or mark that I can see and I've sandblasted the whole tank.
