Ok, I know these diesel trucks are good on fuel (well, moderately depending on how much $&*% you put on them) - but they DO need filling eventually.

My damn fuel filler hatch is stuck!!!!!!!!

I noticed some time ago the little pin that fires out to stop the hatch from freely opening was... sticky. But now I can't get it open at all.

Any ideas where to pry? I've pulled on the hatch release, and even tried pulling the wire itself with a pair of plyers... no use. I'm now almost on E and running out of patience...

Did you figure it out then? I have to open mine manually through the cargo area panel as it stopped working as well. There is a cable with a ball type thing on the end that sits in a slot that rotates up when you pull on the cable. I just push it up and the fuel door opens. It pretty simple. If you need more of an explanation I can snap a picture and upload it for you.

I managed to open the fuel hatch really easily through the cargo panel area you described. I lubed up the mechanism and the little pin you can see from outside the vehicle now moves easily.

However, when I pull on the lever under the dash, the cable moves about 2 inches... but only moves about 2 cm in the rear. It's like it's stretching the metal cable somehow. Don't know what to do about that. The hatch WILL open, but only after about 5 attempts and me feeling like I'm ripping the dash off.

Yeah mine does the same thing. I had it adjusted once or twice by people that knew what they were doing and it worked again for about 3 or 4 times then stopped working again. I just open mine manually each time and forget about it. I put a shot of Stanadyne into the tank each time I fill it which I keep in the cargo area so I have to go in there anyways. It's not any more work really...

Mine just started acting up as well. It helps with two people, or seems to, having one kinda opush on the hatch and the other one pulling the lever.
I will have to try that trick from the inside though. There must be some kind of cable adjustment, but when I did glance at it I did not see anything.

Yeah, it's quite easy to get to inside the jack panel. I've thrown a spare set of needle nose plyers in there for that reason.

My issue with the cable is slightly different... the outer shield of the cable doesn't move, (which its not supposed to) but the inside of the cable moves far less on the hatch side than on the lever side. I don't understand how that can happen or how to fix it other than to replace the whole thing, front to back, which I don't think will happen.
