Fuel Guage acting up

Gas guage reading empty. Then when I restart the truck, it'll climb back up to accurate reading..3/4 of a tank today. Cant count on restart 10o% though to fix it. But then driving it may or may not drop to below empty. Did some research here. Bad sender? or something else?

I'd look at the connections/wires where they enter the top of the tank first for corrosion.

But since the issue is intermittent....my first guess would be the 'sending unit' which is part of the fuel pump assembly in the tank (but a separate replaceable part) as being the likely culprit.
