I've been doing some whining about my fuel economy with my well maintained 1HDT for some time. Although I still haven't managed to confirm or deny that my axle ratio has been altered, I've found that under load, after the service was done, I have significantly better economy than I had before. Around 25.5 miles per imperial gallon. It is very speed dependent, and that number is based primarily on highway or continual running. I've found the 1HDT does not like doing short trips. When I say does not like, I mean to the tune of around 21-22 miles per imperial gallon. So it would seem I don't have a problem at all. Prior to the service I was getting that same 21-22 regardless of my driving. Which, no doubt, on a heavy full time 4wd truck like an 80, is good. At some point in the future I will confirm the axle ratios.

Just put your LC on a lift that leaves the wheels free without hanging down. Mark the drive shaft with a chalk and mark the wheel. Turn the wheel one revolution and count the revolutions of the drive shaft. You'll have a close enough approximation of your ratio.

Last week I was taking a long trip aroung 1500 - 1800km .. ( long to me ) and taking numbers about my 1HD-T + 285 + 1.5 coil spacers + H442F 27 - 28 km/gal ( US gal )

Thanks for the suggestion on how to count that ratio. I will definitely do that. Tapage, I was wondering if you have corrected for your somewhat oversized tires, or are you using GPS? I'm calculating your fuel consumption at just over 20 mp imperial gallon. What are your road conditions like? From where you're posting from, I'm assuming not like what we have here.

Mostly flat higway .. but really mixed .. big clims from sea level to 2000 mts over seal leven in 40 min .. and back .. it means heavy load up hill and soft when you come back down hill ..
