Fuel Door Spring

i had a missing clip on my last 3 trucks, my solution is to put a rare earth magnet on the inside of the door where it will also contact one of the screws inside by the gas cap. It holds the door closed 100% of the time but is still easy to pop open with your fingers or keys or whatever is handy... i like it better than messing with the door release every time i want fuel anyway

In case anyone else orders the $5 Dorman spring and can't figure out how to attach it, here's a picture. I put it on wrong the first time and almost broke it getting it out.

You need the for almost shut to slip it in

Great thread and great to know that one rite of passage when buying an 80 is not being able to fill up on fuel.
I tried to fob/key in fuel door hack but that didn’t work. Seems like the cable isn’t pulling or releasing. Any ideas for a plan b? Then I can probably improvise a clip until the part arrives.
