my fuel damper has been leeking for the last 5k miles. it only leakes a few drops when i turn it off and dont see it when its running. what does the dampner do? my fuel mlage just went down alot the last two tanks of gas. would that be the cause.

I think it's there to absorb the pulsation of pressure in the fuel rail caused by the pump.... Kind of like a shock absorber.... If it's leaking enough it could cause lower fuel economy, but if it was leaking that much it would also be a danger.
