Reading this I must confess I'm amazed at the figures I read here.
I have a '90 4R, 4.88 on 33's, lots of extra's and a 2JZ-GE swap, turbo, intercooler, headers etc. About 300-350 hp. I drive it hard and fast, make lots of sprints and still average at 16.5 mpg.
That's about the exact same number the 3VZ-E had in it's stock form when I bought the 4R.
How do you guys get these bad numbers with a 100 hp engine? Just because of the carb?

I really don't follow the numbers either EXCEPT I think they are too high ( :

Up to the point when my engine started ringing LOL it was, and I guess arguably still, a perfectly tuned 22re. Very good runner and with stock tires or even 31's, I have never gotten over 20 mpg hwy. And that is going 65 with stock gearing.

s***, I have the original window sticker and it quotes a hwy of 18 avg. I can't imgagine getting those teens with gearing and big tires.

Go figure ( :

I have 4.88's and currently running 35" BFG MTs. Filled up last night, I got 20 mpg on my last tank.

I run 33x10.50 BFG ATs in the winter, and I typically get 22 mpg.

I'd be PISSED if I was only getting 15 mpg. That's Cruiser mileage!
