Fst Doors wx stripping

So.. I managed to get the screws out of the top channel.. but the next channel doesn’t as promising as far as getting the screws out.. so I’m thinking since the Oem soft fabric is in really good shape.. well only has 2 small holes..I’m wondering if I can replace the wx stripping while it is on the door? And also.. any wisdom on which supplier to use for this wx stripping? Thanks guys

You have to install the weatherstripping after the vinyl skin is installed with channel screwed to the door frame. If you were planning on replacing the vinyl skin there was no need to the remove the channel for weatherstripping. Once the old weatherstripping is removed would clean the channel and best you can. Would may use a small brush to coat the ends of the screws for channel from keeping them from rusting.

I am like you and have a couple set.of FST door with decent skin. Weatherstripping isn't awful on them either. No help on where to buy weatherstripping. I bought OEM replacement weatherstripping years ago when Toyota selling them off cheap.

Yeah, like living in the past said, leave the channels in place if you are only doing weather stripping. OEM is long gone, but I think you can find replacement replica stuff around. Spray the channel & wileatheretippibg with soapy water & it slides in pretty well (or silicone spray in a pinch, but it is harder to clean after). You can also use a small flat blade screwdriver to push it into place & walk it around the door/channel. Both are pretty easy to manage.

Yep.. I took a flat small screwdriver and ground it to the dimensions of the channel and worked it along fairly well.. wondering if any of you guys have had any luck with commercial glass guys.. the channel looks fairly moveable.. I’ve seen Mud folks like $or.. that sell these but me being a novice .. I’ve bought so much stuff that I can’t use.. ugh!! Where I live .. there are rarely any FJ4’s.. but OEM FST..,I’ve never seen one unless a photo on the net.. or here.. so I’m trying to do this with no personal reference.. that’s why I thank you guys so much for helping

The window are plexiglass. The way the windows stay up with the notches window at different levels glass would be to heavy to keep them up on a bumpy road..

So.. I noticed the “vent” windows are thinner than the main window.. ahh.. is that right? Sorry to ask dumb questions but again.. these are the only FST doors I’ve ever seen.. thank guys in advance..
