Believe me - I searched. I know I recall seeing someone pull their front mudflaps, make a few slits and bend the section that protrudes into the wheel-well - back so that no longer does. It was a really clean job - not just a sawsall surgery. @Taco2Cruiser - was it you?

I just fit some Falken 285/75/17's (roughly 34"s) and am getting just a tiny bit of rub....

Here's a pic of the rig....not of the rub....

I would just remove the mudflaps and use a heat gun and some gentle force to push it where you want to go. The tupperware is very pliable.

Don't forget the eyesore rear mudflaps too. Lots of empty space on the sides of the rear bumper, but you can also remove those two pieces and trim them flush to the rear bumper if you desire.

I've just plain removed mine from all 3 200s I've had with no downsides. I suppose if you drive fast on a lot of gravel roads you could eventually see some accelerated wear on the paint on the rockers, but the sliders end up taking most of the beating anyways. I vote to remove the 3 bolts and throw the flaps out.

Thank you both for chiming in. @mcgaskins, I think you've owned the most 200's out of anyone here! I will plan on pulling the fronts off entirely and if I can get it to look nice, I'll pop them back on - if not, then they'll go in the trash. I'm sure I'm kidding myself in thinking they are protecting anything...

Thank you for this - I hadn't seen this thread before..

I say give it a try, and if you cut or trim too much I have at least one pair in a bin in the crawl space I can mail you.
Ha - thank you Sir for the offer! (I may take you up on it if I botch the first set!) :)

Why I don’t want to remove or cut mine is that the area behind the mud flap has lots of areas to shove mud and road salts into. Me wanting to keep that as free as possible for long term rust prevention wanted to keep every bit of protection.

^Curious way to do it. Any concern for those surfaces now exposed to tire kick up and debris getting sandblasted?

Thank you, Sir! Do you recall the original post? I think you may have had some detail on how/where you cut... Thanks!
