any tips for replacing the very front frame just the area around the front body mounts? that hole area is going to rust away in 2 years and already has holes?

Frame repair should only be undertaken by a good welder, and it's pretty much a cut out what's bad and put in something stronger than it was before type of deal... Can you post some pics?
