Ever since I bought my 80 the front diff lock has always worked but when the actuator cycles it doesn't sound very smooth. Recently it has gotten worse and at times has frozen up somehow. The only thing I have done is taken the actuator off the diff. The actuator itself hasn't ever been taken apart that I know of.

Here is a video to show the noise it is making.

In the video you can hear all the diffs lock. The rear and center sound quiet and smooth. The front sounds horrible. I don't know why the front cycles for about 3 seconds to lock then half a second to unlock.

What could to be the problem?

Could it be the magnets in the top of the actuator? Still can't figure out what would cause it to run for so long when its activated.

Any ideas? has anyone ever seen this issue?

take it apart, maybe the magnets have came loose. address the problem before you start looking for a new actuater
