Hi folks, question from one of your little brothers (or are we cousins?) from the 60 series forum - I tried posting over there, but haven’t got a response.

I've got a 1988 HJ60 with the front 1/4 ventilator windows, and the LHS has developed a leak around the weatherstrip seal. The problem is, they're long discontinued, and I can't even find aftermarket or NOS listings for them.

Do any of you know if the ¼ vent window weatherstrip from the 70 would work for a 60? Failing that, could somebody please give me the dimensions of the ¼ vent window in the 70 so I can compare and see if they’re the same size? Searching everywhere I can think of online has given me no answer to either question and multiple Toyota parts departments were completely unhelpful

I looked into this already. They are very different.

Sad news. And the 70 looked like the best candidate out of all the other models Toyota made with the vent windows

Appreciate that somebody’s done this sort of deep dive already to try keeping these old rigs in top shape, unsurprised it’s you given your dedication to the LandCruiser community ❤️

Guess it’s time to try some kind of sealant

I actually installed a set of the vent windows onto my FJ62 about ten years ago and I love them.. I need weathestripping too unfortunately :(

If you can’t source weatherstripping for them, what hope do the rest of us have!

I’ve seen plenty of people say to just delete them, but I love them too

Smoking windows are the best. Hopefully you guys find a solution.

Not really the sort of thing you can bodge out of generic weatherstripping. I reckon the best bet might be to cover the edge of the window with something non-stick, put a bead of RTV silicone/polyurethane (not sure which would work better) on the existing gasket, and then close the window about 90% so hopefully it cures to form a good seal
