Just you saying this shows how little you've wheeled with me dude.

If your too good for this trail, then why did you ask me if you needed a winch?:hillbilly: I was simply stating that for a double locked truck on swampers this trail can be fairly easy and winching is only needed a few times, so it never really gets into a winch fest, but it can if conditions change or if you look the wrong way for a second this trail is tight and you can easly find yourself hanging from the edge or leaned up against a tree and winches are needed in a hurry. I don't know what to tell you, this trail is very technical, but not overly difficult for a decently built truck, winches are optional as long as one or two in the group have one.:meh: I haven't really wheeled with anybody except adam for most of my trips lately and we sort of just walk through everything so I am unsure how others will do on this trail.

You misunderstood. :meh:

Just because Martin said he likes pictures here are a few more ;)

through the burnt forest, then over our trail build up to make it around the washed out section just past the 2nd river crossing

Again trailer following, and a place I had to winch out of because the trailer was getting hung up on some big rock where I usually just crawl through. Adam nosing into some deep water, then me coming up the bank and having to winch out, just wrap a strap around a bunch of willows and hope they don't pull out ;)

Final few. Winching adam out and blowing off my hook on the winch before trying to double winch once adam got his wire back on the spool and I got my hook fixed. Coming back over our awsome bridge we built the first time we drove in there, and adam finishing up the trail near the trail head.

Sweeeet.
But you guys gotta bring a better camera for Aug long.
That spot your winching Adam, is that where you flopped the wagon last year?

Yeah I doubt we will be taking pictures unless others come, because we pretty much got photos of all the super cool places on the trail from the 4 times we have been in there (course there are other cool spots, but then we would never get inthere if we just took pictures all day ;) ). We have a mission of clearing. Yes that is the spot I layed the wagon on the door last year.

Cheers,

Adam gave me a few photos so thought I would add them as well. Starting out on the trail and going through the first big washed out creek on the trail with the trailer following tightly behind.

2nd river crossing fighting current, note this was the crossing after getting back from the lake, not the first one where I messed up and got swept over to the right of the photo and the deep bend in the river ;)

Nice. Not suprised that keeps most of the quads out.
Wonder how the fishing/hunting would be up there.
Have you guys headed up the steep trail to that pass since last year, or just stayed focused on the main trail to the lake?

Ha Ha, yeah it was funny when we got back to the first river crossing, we saw quad tracks all over, up and down the edge of the river probably trying to find a place where they could cross, it's awsome that the place is all ours till at least August long. We want to try fishing at the lake sometime, haul in an old boat I think that may be pretty good fishing in there as it probably doesn't see any fishing rods (maybe the odd quader, but they don't have a lot of time as it is a good long day trip from trail head and back to their campers for them) We see a lot of tracks out there, but haven't seen any big game except for one big grizz.

We havn't driven up the steep trail, but on the saturday morning I ran up to the top of the first saddle then up to almost the peak of one of the mountains. Fawk is that trail steep, can't beleive my truck crawled up there, I think that trail is one locker minimum and some pretty wide tall aired down tires to make it up. We might take a poke up there August long, but we are pretty determined to clear the trail to the lake.

When do you expect to be leaving FSJ and returning? I think I might close my eyes to the $$$ aspect and just see if I can work the time away. After all, what's the sense of having a cruiser if you just drive to work with it?

Right now things are a little vauge as it is still a bit away and work can tweek things a bit. We were thinking of leaving a bit early and coming back a bit later if we can swing it with work. But probably absolute minimum would be leave Friday, then back on Monday. Would proably preffer to leave Thursday afterwork, and try to push back on Tuesday, but again it is tricky with work. We can be somewhat flexible with you coming too, since even if we go in a bit early we can come out to meet you at the trail head and such, so don't worry too much about that. Just let us know your plans.
Cheers,

Thanks, I'll give it some thought tonight and a talk over at work tomorrow if it looks reasonable.
