are you guys lost? a few years ago chevorlet released a few motors with there cylinderde activation tech. it shuts off half the motor (V4) and lets our new 3/4ton get 22-23 mpg
 
I'd say put it under load, and you'll never see the "V4".

No, V4 wont work if you press the "Tow Haul" button. But its a seamless system, if you floor it you still have the instant gratification of all 300+ horses moving you! And I will agree that chevys are not the BEST, but there are some that have been literally to hell and back. One has broken the frame 3times, and the tranny mounts twice. The other is a piece of crap 454 that always over heats, and the new ones dent to easily.
 
The V4 system seems to finally have come in to its own. It is a neat thing. He is not nuts ;)
