did i hear right, only 4 csc people? thats pathetic. i was fully wanting to be there but was forced by the wife to attend her cousins wedding. then i wanted to run out for the nite and sunday but the important stuff would have been over.

cant tell by the pic, what is HJ60's friend?

Only 4 on the Sunday run, the cleanup had a good turnout.

A spider. Its thorax was iridescent blue. Its abdomen was cream and brown striped and its legs were another color. In nature, that usually means "stay the :censored: away from me. I'm wicked poisonous."

Perhaps an Orb Weaver Spider... IDK for sure, but kind of sounds like it though.

No where near big enough. It was a jumping spider. Less hairy relative of the wolf spiders. Just never seen one so strangely colored before. Jumping spiders are almost universally bite-for-food-only. Won't bite in self defense and won't bite anything it can't eat.

We have orb weavers back home. I know them well. They loved my 40. Had dozens on each tree around it, cos of all the hornet nests in the frame.

You heard wrong. CSC was well represented. There was no real contest between us. I just noticed that in my own small area the Sierra Club was willing to comb level camping areas, while CSC and the Trail Team were climbing the areas below, that included some steep slopes and hazardous areas. They picked thru campfires for melted glass and cans, while we discovered chunks of steel in the creek below, and carried it up steep slopes. But it was not a contest. We were working together. It was just a question of BALLS!! CSC and the trail team had them! We left the level ground to the enviro folks... We just worked the steep slopes and cliffs. In pure pounds of trash collected, we put them to shame. But it was not a contest. We're OK with that. :bounce: It's all good.
