1989 FJ62 For Sale

Well, it's time for better mpg since I'm taking a job that will require me to be on the road quite a bit.

Let's see if I can remember how this goes:

Alan bought this cruiser for Mary when grandkids started showing up. It's originally an Ohio truck. He did lots of work to get it up to speed as a family dd for her. After the work was done, she decided she wanted air bags, so he bought her the 4runner and sold this 62 to Alex.

Alex's wife used it as a dd for several years. During that time all maintainance was done at RHT. It was the vacation vehicle and dog hauler. He said they took it to the outer banks once. That was the only time he had it offroad.

I bought it in Sept. 2008 as a dd to replace my tacoma. I needed 4 doors and despised driving a compact car for a few months. In March 2009 it got OME heavies, BFG AT 33 10.5, and late FJ40 steel rims and hub caps. Took it to GSMTR for the Tellico rally that year:

2010 saw a new OEM radiator and all new hoses, plugs, wires, cap and rotor button. Took the wife to GSMTR at GMP and had a blast!

Later that year, replaced O2 sensors and removed the cats (keep this in mind if your state requires inspection). In August, complete front axle reuild at Alan's place with the help of UC...in the rain:

2011 went off without a hitch until I noticed a crack in the OEM radiator. ACC replaced it and changed all fluids except transmission in Oct. On the way home from ATL, met up with a few UC folks at Black Balsm:

2012 has gone off without a hitch so far.

There is some rust on the rear fenders. On the passenger side, behind the tire, it's rusted through. Hole is about 1.5". Needs rear brake job. There is a tear in the "driver's seat" that's been there since before I bought it. About 3" near your left cheek. I swapped the seats from one side to the other and haven't felt the need to replace cloth yet. Other than that, the interior looks great. Michael and Brian at ACC were very complimentary of the way this cruiser has been kept. (the mean lawyers said I should remind you that they are in no way endorsing this vehicle for sale. Maybe they hated it and were just trying to make me feel better.) Tires have about 40k on them. The spare has never seen the road and is BFG AT 33 10.5 just like the rest. It's also on a 40 rim. I replaced the original spare pulley with a cable type from a tacoma. It will be fine for years to come.

Either way, it's a well kept 1989 FJ62 with 194k miles. It's been my dd and kid hauler for 4 years. I've maintained it to the best of my ability. That being said, if someone like Marshall owned it, he may find a few things that need to be done. You know what you're getting in to if you're interested.

The original rims that came off the truck are yours with the sale. 5 OEM rims with the sleeves for the locking hubs and OEM caps for the rear wheels.

Man that thing is puuuurrrrty and 40 wheels look great with that color. I'm sure it won't take long to sale. What MPG is typical for you in a 62?

I'm getting about 16 during hwy driving...say, 65ish mph. Around town? it's a 62...I get about 8 gallons per mile.

All lin all, it does much better than I thought it would. I was hesitant to lift it, but just couldn't resist. These things just plain don't look right on 30" tires.

The mean lawyers also want me to add this: If MPG is a concern for you, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, buy a 62. (or any cruiser at all for that matter)

Just want to be as candid as possible. Be prepared to spend money on gas.

Anyone have some IFS Toyota aisin front hubs?

Also looking for some 265/75/16 or 235/85/16 AT or MTs with good tread.

Just a feeler:
I have a painted(silver) Sahara bumper on my 01' Land Cruiser. The bumper is in excellent condition and has been on the truck for about a year. the bumper has cleared all obstacles thus far and have never had any issues with it. I love the bumper but my wheeling is getting more aggressive and may try a higher clearance bumper, even though I haven't had the need for one. I don't really need one but I am just weird like that.

Seats

Anybody got any orginal 60 seats in rebuildable condition! Should have jumpted on Gimpys few weeks ago? I am so totally fed up with the crappy corbeau's. And for two weeks I have been looking at used bucket seats and they all have the side bolsters that are a real problem for me. Any way post up if you do. Cover not really important going to have to recover to match somewhat my wierd interior. :)
