Not really keen to place this up for sale but I am going away for a year and my wife is applying some advice.
Vehicle: Canadian market 1985 BJ60
Asking Price: $4000obo
Location: Vehicle is in Savannah, GA. Vehicle was imported from Canada but due to its age and the way the DMV works here in Georgia I was not given a title but drive around with a folder containing the GA registration, the bill of sale and the last vehicle registration from British Columbia.

As I mentioned above I am going away for a year and the wife will be as well. I am not in a huge rush to get rid of the truck but by the third week in August it will be going into storage.

Truck has been on mud here at least two times in the past (most recent below – or one owner between me and the add).

I have not much to add to the previous adds. It has been a daily driver for me as work hasn’t allowed me to take the time off that I would have liked. Truck has normal (for Canadian Truck) rust in the usual areas for the year and model. The frame however is solid.

The truck is running off a replaced 3B diesel engine mated to the H55F transmission. With the 4.56 gears I usually cruise at around 60 mph (turning roughly 2500 rpms and a EGT temp of 825’ish at sea level). I typically get between 20 – 22 mpg driving about 62 miles each day to work. (31 miles one way).

Truck includes a full size (brand new) spare on 15” Toyota rims and a Thule Roof rack. 2.5" Belton lift, 4:56 gears, 33" BFG ATs, full size spare, Safari Snorkel, ARB Bull Bar, Cobra CB, Larssen whip antena, Class III tow hitch, trailer brakes with 7 pin plug. I replaced the headlights with IPF lens combined with PIAA H4 bulbs based on the roads I drive daily. Just had the belts and oil changed as well as new front brakes and the rear brakes serviced. Truck is a unique for me (being my fourth mid-eighties Toyota) in that it has a working stereo system.

As mentioned I am going overseas for a year and the wife is likewise leaving North America as well.

pm's and emails responded to.

I just test drove this vehicle. I am still trying to talk my wife into letting me sell my FJ62 and drive this but I've had no luck as of yet. I'll keep working on her.

But it is crazy this has not sold already. All of the pictures Doug took make the truck look much worse than it is and he took the pictures of every bad spot that exists on the truck. Very hontest guy. Minus the obvious outside rust it actually looks great in person.

Really gets up and goes with the 4.56 gears but tops out in 5th gear really quick. Enough to get you down the interstate at the speed limit but not any faster than that. An easy swap to some 4:10's and you are back in business. Plus that 1st gear is so low anyway you would never notice in daily driving. Transmission shifted great all the way up and down. No vibrations anywhere in the steering or any of the u joints and was a very smooth quiet driver.

The front left spring is a little flat. I think adding one additional leaf from another pack of something would put it right back at perfect though. Just a defect from the spring MFG it appears.

If I didn't have a wife that would slit my throat it would be sold already. Throw in some contacts on the starter, pay someone to fix the rust on the outside and you have an excellent daily driver/trail rig. No doubt it is a very mechanically solid vehicle with just a tad bit of the typical Canadian rust. I highly recommend if you are looking for a diesel Land Cruiser to hurry your ass up.

I don't think it has a/c. Could it be added?

What would a/c cost 2k?

What about a turbo, another 2k?

Seems like this could be a great DD or expo rig with a little time and money.

Thanks for the kind words. Pleasure to finally meet (and yes you can contact me direct on work issues).

Back in Canada I contacted the guys at Turbo Glide, AXT and RADD Cruisers about turbos. It seemed once everything was said and done it would be around 3K to get the turbo to my door and then installation on top of that. The only person I never contacted was Dougal42 about his kit.

I have no idea about A/C for the 3B.

There are some interior photos in the other addi linked to at the beginning. Anything special you wanted?

Sorry--I missed that. For some reason the banner ads on the site are right on top of all my first posts. It is EXTREMELY irritating!

I like the truck. Thinking about how much it would cost to get it here to Minnesota

Did you happen to notice what the RPM's were on the HWY at 65?

SM

Just took her out for a spin to grab a coffee, I eyeballed the following:

50 mph - ~2000 rpm
60 mph - ~2500 rpm
65 mph - ~2750 rpm

You can't be in a rush to get to anything above 60 mph. I didn't have the trip distance or roads to try for 70 mph and still keep the temp (EGT) below 1400.

Using a gear ratio calculator I get the following (Gear Ratio Calculator)

50 mph - ~1973 rpm
60 mph - ~2368 rpm
65 mph - ~2565 rpm
70 mph - ~2763 rpm

Its not as nice on major highways as my last BJ60 (stock gears with 31" tires) but that's not what I use it for. It should only be a matter of swapping gears and tires if required.

On a different note I just found the receipt for some work I had done locally on 30 Jun 12. I replaced the engine belts (2), the front brake calipers and pads and got an oil change. Shop has offered to store the B*&ch for free while I am gone as well.

Me bad - pm replied.

Would like to blame the iPad or AT&T but it was a lack of attention.

Sorry.

I had a 85BJ60 with factory air so You should be able to find parts that just bolt on without much trouble, alot of the parts are interchangeable with FJ60.I had a donor fj and the only thing I needed to do was have lines made. hope this helps if someone is worried about adding air.

The B*&ch is still for sale.

Lots of interest - apologies that with my impending deployment I am not the fastest at replying (going overseas combined with finding out two weeks ago the house we are renting has gone into foreclosure makes for busy times)

I appreciate everyone's patience.

Just replied to all the PM and emails.

Truck is in Savannah (31405)

Two offers pending. (both fell through for different reasons)

Will respond to the other emails when I get a break from the house packing today. Enjoy your weekend.

Probably missed some emails in the last minute rush. (I think I must suck as a seller).

Thanks to all of you who called, looked at, or commented. Nothing panned out that met my tear line.

Surprisingly only two paypal scam offers - those were from the craigslist add...

The B*&ch goes into storage this Wednesday for my year away.

Will decide if I sell on return or invest some money into a new body (maybe frame) before I head back north.

Thanks all and safe travels.
