I've found in life that, no matter how wise we might think we are, it's always a good idea to seek the advice of people who have been there, done that. So... I recently 'upgraded' to a second set of 18" wheels for my daily driver tires. Previously used 18's for my off-road tires and 20's for the DD's, but I do enough light off-roading on the DDs that I no longer have the desire to run 20's.

Q. Sell or keep the 20" OE rims? (currently paired with my winter tires)

Have any of you sold your 20's and regretted it, say when you later sold the vehicle? Did it reduce the desirability or resale value not having them?

I'll own this 2013 LX570 for at least the next 2-3 years.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences!

I'd hold onto your 20" rims for trade/resale.

I've found that many used car buyers prefer stock vehicles, so I typically save all of my take offs, and restore vehicles to the original configuration before selling. There have been exceptions (like suspensions, or invasive changes), but rims are easy to put back on.

I think a stock vehicle increases the potential buyer pool, and I suspect aftermarket rims are a deduction on a trade in (just a suspicion though), if you were to trade It in.

Plus you can sell the other set of 18" wheels separately here on the classifieds and make one of us happy too. :)

I keep oe wheels always so I can put Blizzaks or Nokians on them.

I went opposite. Sold the 18" from 20LC and riding on 20" Lx570 wheels but went up in tire size to 285/55r20 KO2 which gave me almost as high sidewall as 18 wheels on factory size.

I tried to sell my 20s. No one interested. They mold in the Backyard with Michelin passenger tires. Have no interest in ever using them again. They’ve settled in with the 7 spare 18s project rims I have . . .

I've been having this debate with myself too, and I think I'm going to sell them. If my 570 turns out the same was as my 470, anybody who buys it after me would rather have 17s or 18s over the 20s and I'm not likely to trade it in. Plus five 20's take up a ton of space, and my garage ain't that big. I doubt they'll sell for much.

Shouldn't have any issues unloading the 2013+ rims. The 08-12 ones are another story, probably gonna throw mine out. I'm also not a fan of keeping things around that I know I'll probably never use again and would be useful for someone else.

$10 each at Aluminum recycling!

Sold my OE 20's for $550 locally on craiglist with okay-ish Bridgestone duellers
You must take much better pictures than I do. I got zero responses . . . now after sitting horizontal in the backyard the chrome is peeling, so not worth a dime.

Great advice and some things to think about. Thanks all!

If you were to sell your wheels how much would you sell them for? I’m having the same dilemma but have no idea what to even sell them for. No tires, just the 5, 2013+ lx wheels.

a case of beer? trade for a dinner for two? Scrap value is $50 . . .

Seems to be a distinct difference between the older 20s and the 13+ wheels. I personally think they look pretty nice and if they are in good shape I'd at least try to get a couple hundred out of them. The AutoRimShop sells them for $275 each online. If no takers keep dropping. Good luck!

I went through the same dilemma a few days ago, trying to decide between wheel and tire size.

I have a set of 4 18" Tundra wheels which I was planning to use for my spring/summer/fall A/Ts, and was intending to keep my 5 20" OEM wheels with the winter rubber that's currently on there. Downside to the winter rubber is that while these tires are great on paved, snow-covered roads, they are quite bad on the trail, and I still want to do some light trails in the winter time.

I decided to try compromising road+snow winter performance so that I can run the same (3-mountain-snow-peak rated) A/T tires year round, and still enjoy some trails in the winter. As I didn't want to buy a matching 5th wheel for my 18" set (and also because finding that wheel is borderline impossible where I am), I stayed with the OEM 20" Lexus wheels (of which I have 5), and will sell the current 18" set of Tundra wheels, and almost certainly the Blizzack tires that are currently on my 20" set. Will wait to sell the Blizzacks until after I've had a chance to use the new A/Ts in the snow.

I agree with everyone that's said OEM wheels are preferable at sale time, so my vote is to keep them, but not outside (where they will turn to junk). And the 13+ LX 20" wheels look pretty awesome IMO, so I'm happy to keep them. Pretty sure I saw a for-sale thread on this forum where a set of wheels like this sold for a couple grand in a matter of days.

I paid $500 for just for the 13+ rims including spare. Mine look new aside from a little nick courtesy of discount tire. Give or take a couple hundred depending on the tires/condition. Believe a set that was pretty curbed went on eBay for like $400+shipping a couple weeks ago.

In the end I decided to keep my 20s with the winter tires mounted. Doesn't take up any extra storage space and I don't have to pay to mount and dismount rubber. Also, if I want to off-road in the winter I can easily swap between my winters and ATs pretty quickly in my garage.

Personally, I don't do ATs in the winter. There's just no comparison between the handling and performance of a good winter tire vs the best 3PMSF AT on paved roads in the cold/snow/ice.

I hear you. I'm honestly on the fence about my decision and having second thoughts.

I might be interested on your 20” Blizzacks, dependent on how old and thread left. I am in CA. Hit me up when your ready.

FYI I’m running BBS pro for summer and just purchased 20” for winter use. It had 24” ghetto wheels when I purchased my ‘17 LX570 last year and hated them. One reason I selected 20” is Wilwood is struggling to fit their brake system with BBS rims on the car and I didn’t want any fitting issues with my winter rims. However Wilwood is making final adjustments so they work with BBS pro.
