Hello,
94 LC80
The housing for the wire on top of the distributor has broken off and I believe has been causing poor connection leading to fluctuations in my rpm. I get a code 12 intermittently causing my CEL to come on and off whenever there is poor connection within it. I wiggled it around and I could hear the engine fluctuating in rpm.
Also, it also causes the car to have a crank no start sometimes with the CEL on in the on position until I unplug, plugging it back it and wiggling it. Then it will start.

What should my next steps be?

What's broken?
If the harness side of the connector is damaged, that can be replaced 90980−11150. Individual pins with a pigtail 82998-12590.
There's no replacement for the distributor side, but a used distributor shouldn't be too hard to find.

If you look where the opening is, there’s a missing clip on the harness side that clips onto the distributor side. Do you think that this broken clip can cause code 12?

Well, let's look at the facts.
1. You're getting code 12 with fluctuating RPM.

2. You have a broken connector at the distributor.
3. When you wiggle the connector the RPM fluctuates.

What does that tell you?
