Purchased from a Mud member in May 2014 and making it my own. Inherited a folder with over $20,000 of receipts dating back to 2002 (tires and suspension are expensive). 160,000 miles on the odometer and hopefully many more ahead! Currently sits on 295/75/16 Toyo Open Country Extreme with OME suspension and a wide range of upgrades installed and more planned (kinda more bought than built but will do as much as I can to earn my stripes).

That's a bad mammer jammer! :flipoff2:

So shiny

Technically I didn't put the goo on the tire it was the detail shop - who to their credit took out 80% of the offroad brush scratches (war paint) on both sides. I am loading it up with boards and wetsuits now so it will be gross inside and out by tomorrow at 500pm. A few more glory shots before it gets all nasty again.

I've known and wheeled with the PO. You've got a nice truck. Remove pinstriping - shame on you and the detail shop. Those are badges of honor! :-)

Well, I'm jealous! - My black one has all the crap & pinstripes & such ----- and I'm jealous of yours & may just buff mine out to bring back some of what you have.

That shine may not last, but you sure have my envy! Excellent looking & sounds like a solid purchase!

thanks! didn't remove ALL the stripes, but had to protect the metal where the paint may be thin...i removed (and sold) PO's aftermarket bumper and am now riding high in the back so need to sort that out and the OME springs may be too stiff given the weight loss of no sliders and no slee bumper. door locks are sticky and fussy - gonna add that to the list

the view from the pilot's seat in these 80s is panoramic

Went to Recology in SF to get weighed so I can make an informed choice about what suspension to choose. My tires/wheels are pretty big-heavy at 295/75/16 compared to stock.

5,080 pounds (lbs) with 5/8th tank of gas and no spare tire and dual batteries, no towing kit.

Just curious, why ditch a Slee rear bumper? Most have to save for a good while to get one, not sell one.

You just don't plan to use a spare or what's the logic there? Replacement product?

I didn't buy the Slee, it came with the truck. The Slee really impedes access with two latches and etc to the rear cargo area, where I keep surfboards and wetsuits, so it had to go. Went to a good mudder type fellow. I put back on the stocker, and lost a ton of weight.

Very nice! I too don't like the hassle of the rear bumper and spare. I cant even imagine lifting a full size spare up that high and line up the bolts. I have to be able to do it solo or it won't work and a full size spare is just over 100lbs for me. Also I really love the clam shell rear hatch and its convenience.

The only rear mount tire carrier I've ever not hated with daily use was my trooper where it was bolted to the door. Then I bumped the tire on a tree trying to get the truck turned around on a narrow trail and totaled the door and then I hatted that too lol.
Not thrilled with the prospect of having to drag the tire out from under my truck on a muddy trail but it's out of the way. Wish there was a pizza cutter 35 available.

It would cut into your storage/wetsuit area, but a internal spare (like the Slee "stripper pole") - would get the job done. Just something that ties together the 3rd row grab handle mount to the lower hinge insert for the seat, then mount off that vertical structure a solid adapter that bolts the wheel. Then you don't have a 100# missile in the event of panic stop or accident.
