Hello everyone. Just signed up so I am a new member but a very long time lurker. Im a Toyota pickup guy so please bear with me.
I swapped in a 80 series front axle into my 1980 pickup and have done a full rebuild with the addition of Hellfire knuckles. Im down to the brake install and didnt realize that there are 2 versions of the 80. 1990-1992 and the later 1993-1997. Correct?
Well I purchased rotors for a later model and new calipers for the early model not knowing about the difference. The late model rotors are too thick for the early model calipers. 1” vs. 1.26”. I will be running 40” tires so of coarse Id prefer the larger more robust rotors.
Now heres my question that neither of the Cruiser shops will answer for me. Do the Late model 93-97 calipers have the 1.26” clearance for these thicker(and larger diameter) rotors?
At this point Im just throwing money at a really silly problem. I bought the axle not knowing what year it was out of. I would like to put this all behind me and move on to the next project, so if anybody has this info and is willing to share I would be so grateful!
Thank you, Jon
