I recently put new Toyota down pipes and new muffler on my 94 FJ80 and having a terrible time keeping a seal. I took to a muffler shop and they tried the stock round seal and that didn't last. Then he tried the full seal that went over the full flange and has the holes for the bolts and even double up on those. We are on the 3rd attempt and no the back one is leaking rel bad again. Any experience or advice?

I've been lucky with mine... a couple of years ago I did the stock donut rings on the cats when I replaced those, and so far, no leaks for me. Maybe find a shop that can weld in some v-band clamps?

👆this..... cut the stock flanges off and weld in V bands

This does look best! Finding someone to do this correctly will be my challenge!

I have found the gentleman who owns this shop to be very good. Got the exhaust on the 40 straightened out.

Are you talking about the gaskets where the down pipes go to the manifolds? Those are really easy to pinch on install. It's also really common to have a bunch of corrosion in the manifold sealing are that needs to be scraped out. We've had good luck coating the donut gaskets with muffler cement before install. It helps the seal when the manifolds is pitted.

Yes, those are the gaskets. Are referring to the small round OEM gaskets (donut gaskets)? That you use muffle cement with... Thanks!
