And make sure you use the OEM 1 piece cork gasket 12151-61011 after cleaning the mating surfaces with scotchbrite followed by acetone. No FIPG is used.
You should spend some quality time cleaning the front and rear arches (bearing caps), as these are prone to leaking. The rear arch is often misdiagnosed as a rear main seal leak. The rear is a PITA to get clean with the transmission mounted.
The 22 bolts should be snugged in a circular pattern to 69 INCH lbs.
I typically use a 1/4" drive ratchet and go round and round until I see the cork gasket just start to deform.
Got the gasket. Just gotta cleanup the pan and the engine block. After I remove it from the undercarriage. Wish me luck. Working on the street is not the prettiest but it’ll get done.

IIRC, the gasket will not sit in the pan while trying to get it back in place.
I used 6 or 8 or maybe more hub studs screwed into the block and that kept the gasket mostly in place as I got the pan back into position.

Got the oil pan out and cleaned up. Now for the fun part… fitting it all back together.

any sludge in the bottom when you got it out

The oil was definitely in need of replacement but no sludge.
From one picture it looks like some of the bolt holes are deformed and the lip is bent. That's from over torquing the bolts. Fix that up before installing.

Yeah was gona use my dolly and hammer to flatten them out today. Don’t want any leaks.

Took off the rubber gaskets on either end of the engine block where the oil pan mates up. Cleaned up the surfaces.

What rubber gaskets are you referring to?
The previous gasket was four pieces. Two on the side and two on the ends. At least I think it was? I have the Toyota cork one piece gasket as replacement however it appears the gasket used in this case was not the same setup.

Yea, those are the bearing cap sections of the old gasket. The OEM cork gasket is several pieces glued together as one from the factory and doesn't separate.

Hammer and dolly day. Trying to get the figment of the corners just right before installing.
What’s the max gap you think I can have?

dont be afraid to use a little bit of permatex's 'the right stuff' in problem areas. I used just that torque rated rtv on my 3b oil pan and it has been good

Hey everyone,

I unbolted and broke loose my oil pan today. That was fun!

Now I am at a stalemate with the FJ! The oil pan does not seem to have the appropriate clearance to pull out from under the truck? I looked at the front cross member and it does not appear to be removable(welded). I don’t want to start ya long on it and damage the oil pan. Please help!!! I must be missing something…..

***For reference this is a ‘92 FJ80 3FE engine auto transmission combo***
