So I finally got around to building a storage box for the back of the 62. Used 1/2" plywood. No heavy duty slides. Just going with friction. Form didn't turn out the way I wanted it to (my first woodworking project) but it will function just fine. It's not finished or fixed to the floor yet.

Thanks to all who have posted their projects before. You were a big help!

nice work - looks good. I'm getting ready this evening to work on storage for my 80. Friction works just fine for me too. Rub some bar soap on any thing that touches (after you finish the wood of course) she'll glide real smooth.

Regular paraffin (candle) wax works a treat too, and really seems to last.

Good tips! Thanks

I'll take it apart tonight and put the edges on the router. We'll see if that helps.

I left the back of the box open. My thought was that if there comes a time when I can't get the tailgate open, I can drop the rear seat and still access the contents. I'm starting to rethink this though. It's really annoying when the drawer slides through. Since I'm not capable of making a straight cut, it's very dificult to pull the drawer back where it is flush with the front of the box. Any ideas?

could prolly use a latch/lock mechanism to stop it, or screw down a piece of wood near the front to keep it from pushing in/forward after hard braking/accelerating..? you can also build/cut out a hatch on top so you can also access things from the back seat. i'd probably make the length of it flush from the back seat right to the tailgate so you don't get forwad/back shifting? but nice job, you always think of more things after the job is done, i know this.

maybe more ideas for ya...gonna be makin a 2nd one for my 60 this time with other ideas/upgrades in mind.
lol, there's just something about a guy, his cruiser, and his rear storage!

I left the box short of touching the seat because I wanted to continue using the anchor to tether my son's seat.

Thanks for the link in the above post. There are so many ideas I would have liked to incorporate into this project. Next box will be for the wife's 100. It will be much nicer. It will also be a while before that happens so hopefully I'll get some more practice before then.

Thanks again.

FJ62 has 4 anchors from the factory. 2 near the back seat and 2 near the tail gate.
