The 360 view almost does it justice:

We were tired and scorched, so we stopped in the Bumbleberry Gift Shop & Bakery for ice creams and souvenirs.

I had the Bumbleberry Pie shake, which is a slice of pie blended with vanilla ice cream. Man, it hit the spot.

Just as we were leaving town, I heard @woody ’s voice crackling over the Baofeng, so we stopped by the IH8MUD World Headquarters on our way back to Cedar City.

He even let me ban a few of you knuckleheads for a few minutes.

Dinner was a Firecracker sushi burrito from Sushi Burrito #5, which was totally delicious

That about wraps this one up.

The next day, we grabbed some In-N-Out in Las Vegas...

Looks like a great trip - fantastic photos!

Kanarraville Creek slot canyon hike is another one to check out, just 15 minutes south of Cedar City, but save it for warmer weather too.

We’ve been at sea level too long, so it was time to find some elevation again. No planes this time, it was all driving. And, of course, some aliens thrown in for good measure...

Good thing you're young. Er. :D

We need some better...emojis.

Executive Summary:

We came, we saw, we got highAF, we communed with aliens, we summoned a double rainbow. One slashed tire, one MAINT REQD light, one flashing tire pressure light, and 4500 miles later… and we’re back in the land of sticky air at 9:45 on a school night. Details to follow.

Also, the insects back home are deafening at night. Holy hell.

First stop: Amarillo

This was plenty of driving for one day, and put us in a good position for day two (or so we thought).

On the way in, we stopped at the Bug Ranch…

This was probably a nice stop along Route 66 back in the day.

There’s an old school service station and adjacent souvenir store. Plus a clean, cool motel on the other side of the ranch that looks as though it may have only shut down for COVID, never to reopen.

Our stop for the night was the Courtyard, in the old Fisk Building, which overlooked the hip, gentrifying downtown…
