So back to the original question with a twist - how hard would it be to get this vortec to pass smog in Phoenix?
Howdy! Been running a 350 in my Piggy for over 10 years in the valley, smog legal, with the comparable smog parts that were on the original engine.azaussie said:Thanks guys. Anyone with a swapped in SBC gone through emissions without a problem?
3 times in all these years, fine tuned idle mix with C.O. meter, and passed retest with flying colors.
Engine is bone stock from 77 full size sedan. Now has about 200,000 miles on it, never had the valve covers off yet. It must think it's a TOYOTA!
It's fun watching the technician look for a Toyota V8 before 1998. azaussie said:Thanks John. This rig in SLC has a 1997 Vortec engine so if it has all of the smog equipment then would the technicians consider the parts comparable to the 1988 3fe engine?
