looking for a transfercase for my 1986 FJ60

In 4/86 the case went from 34mm to 38mm.

I thought it was in 84? as all the 85's I've done had the larger idler shaft.

From what I have seen, the 1985+ long h42 didn't get the 38mm idler until 4/86. I've had a few 1985 Fj60's, all 34mm.

From Kurt's site:

"Please verify idler shaft size by measuring the idler shaft where it protrudes from the back of your split transfer case. There is some noted overlap in the 34mm cases and some early uses of the 38mm cases. Please measure before ordering"

It looks like it could have either.

I didn't know. good info. I was thinking with the long 4 speed the transfer changed also.

I have a fj60 split case transfer case with the 38 mm shaft. I planned on using this years ago and project never happened. Have had it stored inside for 25 years. clean and in good shape.
